Thaisa's background is versatile. Her roots lie in the Netherlands, the US, Germany and the Ukraine. In addition, she can draw from an extensive dance, theatre and musical education and experience. After completing the musical and theatre training course in Amsterdam she was featured in several music theatre productions and became co-founder of 'VOGT', her own total theatre company, followed later by the Connecting Art foundation.
Thaïsa studied jazz and improvisation at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and music therapy at the Academy of Utrecht, the Netherlands. She then worked as a singer in several groups, performing in a variety of styles. From music theatre, close harmony and cabaret to pop and blues, but mainly jazz, where her heart is.
In addition, she worked as a host, as well as a voice, presentation and band coach and directed and choreographed several small-scale music theatre productions. Through the years, she also organized and programmed several projects, events and concerts with Olivia Music Productions.
Meanwhile, Thaisa has been active as a professional freelance singer in many different bands and projects, on a variety of stages. Besides being the vocalist and driving force behind the Thaisa Olivia Quartet, she performed in the Netherlands and abroad with De Thaïsa Olivia Band, The Grand Piano Boogie Train, De Jaap Dekker Band, Big Band Balance, Hot Club de Frank, with Ed Boekee in their own musical cabaret program, The Feenbrothers, Up with People (US and European tour) and The Croonettes (tour Germany).
